Parenting your Infant

Congratulations on the recent birth of your baby! This is an exciting time in your life, but it can also be scary and exhausting. Tending to young children can be a lot of work, but the rewards can also be wonderful!

The calling to be a parent is fascinating. Your baby calls you to be attentive and loving. You are called to create an environment in which your baby can thrive. Your baby experiences callings to. Your presence calls your baby to interact socially, and more foundationally, your baby is called to learn to trust you as you offer predictable stability in a nurturing and loving environment for your child.

Babies don’t come with owner’s manuals so you’ll need to do a little homework to discover how to live this calling to be a parent effectively. The video below will give you a sense of the milestones to watch for in the first year.

Knowing the milestones is very important. Knowing how to interact with your baby to encourage healthy development is equally important. The “Ages 0-2” link below from the website of The Search Institute offers practical suggestions for parenting in response to milestones during the first two years of life.
