Cheerful summer greetings to all of you! As many of you have busy days and evenings during this time of year, please remember to include attending Sunday Mass and daily prayer in your schedules. I have been pastoring both St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary since July 1, 2021. I have been the canonical pastor at IHM since 2017. The Holy Spirit will continue to guide us as we move forward.
The weekend of June 17-18 was very important to me. Many of you gathered at St. Joseph and at IHM after the masses to help me celebrate the 40th Anniversary of my ordination to the priesthood. I was delighted by the opportunity to greet many of you at the gatherings. Your support and encouragement really lifted my spirit. We have at least five more years to bring the Gospel to life here in Austintown.
The following events are highlighted for July:
July 4th we will celebrate the Eucharist at 9:00am at St. Joseph.
Also on the 5th, the IHM Parish Council will meet at 6:30pm.
Saturday, July 8th, the Knights of Columbus from IHM will attend the Cleveland Guardians game in Cleveland.
July 9th, I will begin a brief liturgical instruction series at IHM before the start of the 11:00am Mass.
The big event at IHM that will soon be upon us is the Rummage Sale. Here is the schedule: Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July15, the event will be held from Noon -7:00pm. Sunday, July 16, the event is Noon -4:00pm. There are many rummage goods available as well as clothing and linens. There will also be a Basket Raffle and a 50/50 drawing. The winners of these games of chance will be selected on Sunday at 4:00pm. The Knights of Columbus will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage sandwiches every day of the Rummage Sale. Please come and take part in this important fundraising event and enjoy the hospitality.
The IHM Finance Committee will meet on Wednesday, July 19 at 6:30pm. If anyone would like to join this important group, please contact the IHM rectory for more information.
Sunday, July 23, the St. Joseph Golf Outing will return with a new name. From now on we will enjoy the Vicki Castronova Memorial Nine and Dine at Millcreek Golf Course beginning at 4:00pm. More information will follow in the bulletin.
