Dear Members and Friends of Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Joseph Parishes,

Cheerful summer greetings to all of you! As many of you have busy days and evenings during this time of year, please remember to include attending Sunday Mass and daily prayer in your schedules. I realize many of you are getting used to the new Mass schedule at each parish. This month begins my writing a combined calendar letter for each parish. As we are worshiping together more frequently, I hope the activities in each parish will also encourage crossing Mahoning Ave to enjoy the gifts each parish enjoys.

I have been pastoring both St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary since July 1, 2021. I have been the canonical pastor at IHM since 2017. I anticipated this development when I accepted the assignment to St. Joseph in 2009. Initially, most parishioners at both churches will not notice much of a change (other than the mass schedule changes) but in the next few years we will be cooperating with each other in more areas of parish life. The Holy Spirit will continue to guide us as we move forward.

The big event at IHM that will soon be upon us is the Rummage Sale. Here is the schedule:

  • Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, the event will be held from Noon -7:00pm.
  • Sunday, July 3, the event is Noon -5:00pm.

There are many rummage goods available as well as clothing and linens. There will also be a Basket Raffle, a 50/50 drawing, and the Annual IHM Raffle with a grand prize of $3000.00. The winners of these games of chance will be selected on Sunday at 4:00pm. The Knights of Columbus will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage sandwiches every day of the Rummage Sale. Please come and take part in this important fundraising event and enjoy the hospitality.

Here are a few other highlights of the month of July.

  • Enjoy a safe and festive Independence Day on Monday, July 4.
  • The IHM Parish Council will meet on Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30pm.
  • The IHM Finance Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30pm. If anyone would like to join this important group, please contact the IHM rectory for more information.
  • The St. Joseph Finance Committee will meet on Thursday, July 28, at 6:30pm.

In the coming months there will be many more activities listed so please be sure to check the bulletin and the calendar to keep track of what we have in store.

Hoping that God continues to bless all of you with countless good things, I remain,

Sincerely yours in Christ,
