Cheerful summer greetings to all of you! I have been pastor of St. Joseph since July, 2009. I have been the canonical pastor of IHM since September 2017. I have been pastoring both St. Joseph and Immaculate Heart of Mary since July 1, 2021. Come January 1, 2025, I will be the pastor of the yet to be named Austintown parish. The Holy Spirit will continue to guide us as we move forward.
In anticipation of the merging of the two parishes we will start the process of selecting the possible names to submit for the Bishop’s choice. There will be more information about this in the bulletin next week.
July 1 marks the conclusion of Mary Ellen Chance’s employment at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary Ellen has worked at IHM since August, 1988. I hope you express your gratitude to Mary Ellen for her dedication and service to the parish. With Mary Ellen changing jobs, this will lead to some challenges in the weeks to come. Laurie Wolfe, the secretary at St. Joseph will be available at the IHM office on Tuesdays. We will work out the days and times when others will be available in the office.
The following events are highlighted for July:
July 4th we will celebrate the Eucharist at 9:00am at St. Joseph.
July 6th I will have confessions at St. Joseph at 3:30pm.
Wednesday, July 10th the IHM Parish Council will meet at 6:30pm.
Tuesday, July 16, I will have a total shoulder replacement surgery. While I am recuperating, Msgr. Polando will preside at the masses and funerals.
The big event at IHM that will soon be upon us is the Rummage Sale. Here is the schedule: Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July20, the event will be held from Noon -7:00pm. Sunday, July 21, the event is Noon -3:00pm. There are many rummage goods available as well as clothing and linens. There will also be a Basket Raffle and a 50/50 drawing. The winners of these games of chance will be selected on Sunday at 4:00pm. The Knights of Columbus will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage sandwiches every day of the Rummage Sale. Please come and take part in this important fundraising event and enjoy the hospitality.
The IHM/St. Joseph Finance Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 23 at 6:30pm in the Rectory basement at IHM. If anyone would like to join this important group, please contact the St. Joseph rectory for more information.
Sunday, July 28, the St. Joseph Golf Outing, the Vicki Castronova Memorial Nine and Dine at Millcreek Golf Course begins 4:00pm. More information will follow in the bulletin.
