Dear Members and Friends of St. Joseph Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church

I hope each of you is in good health and you are enjoying the blessings of summer. As we face September, I am surprised how quickly time has elapsed. It seems as if summer passes so quickly!

We are facing new beginnings in many areas of our lives. The 2023-24 School Year is starting. That means teachers and school personnel are busy at work and the students are leaving vacation behind and “hitting the books,” or perhaps computer screens! Fall sports are underway; especially my favorite one that involves “pigskin.” There are many reasons for excitement and high expectations.

The following is a highlighting of some of the activities this September:

  • 2 Confessions at 3:30 at St. Joseph.
  • 4 Labor Day! The Offices will be closed at both parishes.
  • 4-8 I will be participating in the Youngstown Priests Convocation.
  • 5 Dr. Tom Sauline will begin the Bible Study program at St. Joseph at 9:30am in the Mackin Room.
  • 6 Dr. Tom Sauline will begin the Bible Study at Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Rectory Meeting Room.9:30am.
  • 10 St. Joseph CCD begins!
  • 11 Divorce Care begins in the Mackin Room at 6:30pm. The program runs for 13 weeks.
  • 12 There will be a Communion Service at St. Joseph instead of the usual 9:00 am Mass.
  • 13 The IHM Parish Council will meet at 6:30pm in the Rectory Meeting Room.
  • 16 The IHM Trunk Sale will be from 9:00am-2:00pm.
  • 17 IHM CCD begins!
  • 22 The IHM Food Pantry will distribute food at 1:00pm.
  • 29 The Widows and Widowers Group will meet at 2:00pm in Mercy Hall.

As the Catholic parishes of Austintown, we have a wonderful future together. We have accomplished a number of renovation and improvement projects and we have started a number of parish activities that appear to have a promising future. I encourage each of you to consider how well you are using your own time, talent, and treasure as a steward of God’s gifts.

Praying that God blesses each of you with the rich harvest you need, I remain

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Gregory F. Fedor
